Fresh Article Look, New Spotlight for “MyPicks”
Today we have freshened up the look of articles on Bleacher Report.
Every month, millions of people flock to the site to read sports articles, and we wanted to give them an even better experience. Most notably, we want our readers to be exposed to more articles they might enjoy; our community features so many fantastic writers, and allowing them to more prominently showcase their talents is sure to increase the number of visitors sticking around to join the debate.
Pick of the Day has also experienced an improvement and received a small facelift.
The Community has been taking advantage of this feature increasingly more frequently, and many of you have expressed a desire to give greater recognition to articles they read and enjoy. Effective today, members of the Community can award a personal pick to any article they like—the article receiving the most MyPicks votes at the end of each day will still receive Pick of the Day placement on the front page.
In addition, we will soon be announcing our first contest related to the new MyPicks feature. More details on this front will emerge in the coming weeks.
As always, we welcome any feedback on either (or both) of these new developments—feel free to leave comments below.
Remember: you may have to reload your browser once or twice before the new page shows up properly!

When I first saw the new look, I just went eurgh! It’s horrible,m but it has grown on me, and now looks just like a proper professional sports site. Well done yet again guys.
Bryan - I honestly don’t like the “top related stories” box on the left side of the article. All the other tweaks looks great, except for that box which seems to create a bit of a problem reading any article.
I don’t if this is something I am just missing or if it was removed but I really liked having the unedited sign on articles. As a reader and an editor I think it was really important and that would be my biggest gripe with the redesign.
Agreed on the unedited box, if that has indeed been done away with.
Thanks for listening and adding author names into the editing module a week or two ago, by the way. Saves a bunch of time.
The “Unedited” box shall return! He’s just a late bloomer, and will be back in action in a few days.
love the new look guys, but i agree with the not liking the “top related stories” box on the left side. otherwise, good stuff.
Love the new look. Especially featuring the related articles where the reader will definitely see it. Might help keep new readers browsing the site.
Keep up the good work!
The new look site is ok , but I dont like how the articles are showing up twice , Its an eyesore to read the same article twice .
Apart from that all is well in the new look bleacher world .
Nice job Bryan, very nice.
I do echo the comment about the ‘top related articles’ being obtrusive to the eye. it is quite a distraction.
The overall look is tighter and very pro…but your first effort was very, very good also.
Love it guys, great work. I am a supporter of the “top related articles” box. I like it.
I am curious about the MyPicks, though. I am pretty forgetful and will probably forget that I have already voted for an article of the day if the button doesn’t disappear.
I think it should be like before; disappearing when you use your vote for the day.
I must say i really don’t like the top related articles in the middle of the article. It just messes up the authors article, and the share this story bit in the top right looks messy. I had no problem with the old layout, but other than those two things the new layout is alright. Good job all the same.
I agree that the “top related” box seems a bit obtrusive. I am getting more used to it, gut it does seem to distract from the article. Perhaps a border would help separate it from the article itself. I have also been having some issues with uploading pictures. After the upload, nothing happens. No pic shows, and no messages either. Some type of error reporting would be good there. I also assume you guys already know the that the “article stats” are messed up, they show different numbers depending upon where the box is. And I would like to see a “newest articles” box somewhere, a box that would not use writer rankings to populate. Allow exposure to the newbies.
Thanks for working so hard on the site, BR is a fantastic piece of work.
Hey looking good. I also agree that the the related stories on the left take away from the format, but aside from that it’s great!
One thing I have noticed si when you win a POTD, it does not say so on the article. Why not? Always looked cool, now everyone has to take our word for it.
Plus, that related stories is very annoying if you have something with bullet points. It has messed it all up. Can we go back to the old way please?
