Featured Columnist Michael Cummings posted a piece yesterday that’s a great example of how to approach a big, big slideshow.

His 50 best soccer players of 2011 is thorough and entertaining. Our world football editor, Will Tidey, pointed out the slideshow to me. I asked him what he thought made it so successful:

“The level of thought/deliberation that’s gone into grading each slide,” he said. “The detail on each slide, the credibility of each selection in each position, even the photo selection is classy. It’s easy to knock out a par or two on a big slideshow, but this is the five-star luxury spa of slideshows.”
