A couple of baseball slideshows to get you ready for the draft
In honor of the MLB amateur draft Monday, we have a couple of baseball slideshows worth a look today.
Joel Reuter put a ton of research into naming an all-draft team — complete with batting order — for every year from 1990 to 2005.
It’s another great example of how the slideshow format can be used. The same piece, as a narrative, would be a long, hard-to-read screed with 16 tables in it listing the lineups. As a slideshow, it carries the reader along briskly.
Not draft-related, but a fun baseball slideshow for people who love or hate the Boston Red Sox, which is everyone: Matt Strobl runs down the 10 worst signings in Red Sox history in honor of Daisuke Matsuzaka’s impending Tommy John surgery.
I have to take issue with listing J.D. Drew fourth. According to Fangraphs, he’s been worth almost exactly $14 million a year during his five-year, $14 million-a-year deal. But I have to admit that’s a pretty authentic example of Red Sox-fan neurosis.
