Shoutout roundup: World soccer, MLB, NFL and college football pieces
It’s time for a midweek Shoutout roundup.
It’s impossible for anyone to read a very high percentage of Bleacher Report’s 800-plus stories a day, so I solicit recommendations for Shoutouts from my co-workers at the various palatial Bleacher Report HQs.
They’ve been piling up, so here’s the Shoutout dump:
Newsletter coordinator and my fellow Tottenham Hotspur fan John Greely pointed out this short but well-doneĀ piece about Emmanuel Adebayor coming to the Spurs in the wake of the club’s supporters serenading him with a racist chant when he played against them for Real Madrid in a Champions League quarterfinal.
Two more world football stories courtesy of soccer editor Will Tidey: Neri Stein on 10 shocking deals that would rock the transfer window if they happen, and Phil Constable, who is tall, on a hypothetical team of very tall EPL players.
Baseball editor Stephen Meyer recommends three solid slideshows:
Zachary Ball runs down every team’s top-performing prospect of the year, a story that holds interest for all 30 fan bases and will be relevant all winter.
Robert Knapel also appeals to every team’s fans by reviewing each franchise’s all-time best player. I thought Neifi Perez would show up at least twice. Perhaps I missed him.
And Doug Mead gives us plenty of video in a slideshow of the 20 greatest baseball-movie scenes of all time. A bit heavy on the “Field of Dreams” and light on the “Bang the Drum Slowly” for my taste, but to each his own.
Saving the most popular sport for last, Andrew Brining provided a great service by running down each team’s injury report following the Week 1 NFL games, and Danny Flynn followed up Notre Dame’s loss to Michigan by givingĀ seven reasons Brian Kelly is not the man to lead the Fighting Irish.
