Michael Schottey
Bleacher Report NFL Associate Editor Michael Schottey has been honored by the National Pro Football Writers of America.
Schottey took second place in the Columns category of the Dick Connor Writing Awards for his Sept. 12, 2010, Bleacher Report story headlined “Detroit Lions Loss To Chicago Bears Calvin Johnson’s Fault, Not Referees.”
The awards cover the period from immediately after the 2010 Super Bowl through the 2011 Super Bowl.
A Mark Purdy column in the San Jose Mercury News about JaMarcus Russell won first place in the Columns category. Here’s a full list of the PFWA award winners, including Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who won the Good Guy award, and New York Jets coach Rex Ryan, won the Horrigan award, “which goes to the person (not a player or team public relations staffer), whose qualities and professional style helped the media best do its job last season.”
Yes, Rex Ryan definitely makes the media’s job easier!
Congratulations to Schottey. Bleacher Report is proud.
