Atlanta Writers Meet-up another triumph for the B/R road crew

The ACC Tournament was fine, but the real event in Atlanta late last week was the Bleacher Report Writers Meet-up Thursday night in Buckhead.

B/R writers represented in force. They got to hear from a very enthusiastic Dave “Sweet Mo” Morrison, who talked about the new front page, which debuted that day. It features an individualized Team Stream for each reader, as well as “The Lineup,” a constantly updating list of the sports stories that are blowing up, going viral, getting people, well, as excited as Sweet Mo:

Managing Editor Tim Wood drove in from South Carolina and talked about the loneliness of the remote writer—and editor—and how great it is when we’re able to get together and meet with others who are doing the same thing, each in our own garret or grandmother’s basement or whatever:

As the evening wound down, a spirited debate broke out between two soccer FCs, Mohamed Al-Hendy and Peter Webster, who calmly, politely, almost genteelly, discussed the relative merits of Tottenham Hotspur (Al-Hendy) and Liverpool (Webster) as Webster’s wife, Brittany, listened in.

I didn’t hear any of it … but Al-Hendy was right.

NFL Lead Writer Josh Zerkle, at far right, held court, and one of our newest Lead Writers, fantasy expert Jay Clemons, center talking to Tim Wood, also joined us. That’s Tennessee Titans FC Zach Law in the alternate jersey.

It was a great night all around, thanks in no small part to our hosts at Gordon Biersch in Buckhead, who kept the food platters stocked and the beer flowing. Thanks to all the Atlanta writers who came out. Our next Writers Meet-up will be in April in San Francisco, and then we’ll be on the road again to Philadelphia in May. Watch this space for details.

Yeah, I think we’ll hit Boston toward the end of the year.
